Monday and Tuesday this week have been slow. Managing to catch 1 or 2 per trip. Wednesday things picked up a little in the afternoon, boxing a nice 6 lb hatchery Coho and a 10 lb Chinook. Lots of soft hits to keep us jumping. The afternoon fishery continued for the rest of the week, probably due to the low afternoon tide. Fish were being caught along the whole West Van shoreline with our best success being in a little deeper water. Anchovies, hoochies, lures have all been working. We have been targeting Coho with some nice 5 – 7 lb being landed. It is always a pleasant surprise to land a 10 – 15 lb Red Chinook. Our Coho, Chinook catch ratio has been almost 50/50. I think we are going to have an exceptional year with our Chinook fishery. signs are good. The boys have been doing well in the Howe Sound, Horseshoe Bay, Hole in the Wall area, if you find a pocket. Chinook 15 to 20+ lbs being caught. Might be a good bet if we have those strong North West winds.
